Common questions
Sending feedback on the beta
Take a screenshot in Tidebook and tap Share Beta Feedback, or open TestFlight and tap Send Beta Feedback on Tidebook’s page. Email works too.
A screenshot shows what’s on screen, so you can turn on privacy mode or crop it first.
I forgot my backup password
Tidebook never keeps the password, and a backup file can’t be opened without it. If iOS offered to save it after the export and you said yes, it’s in your password manager under tidebookapp.com.
While your data is still on your phone, you can export a new backup with a new password from More → Backup & export.
Moving to a new phone
If you set up the new phone from an iCloud or computer backup, Tidebook’s data comes with it, unless Leave out of iCloud Backup is on in More → Privacy.
Otherwise, export a backup on the old phone from More → Backup & export. On the new phone, open the file from Files or AirDrop, or choose it in More → Backup & export, and enter its password. Restoring replaces everything in Tidebook on that phone.
What privacy mode changes
It uses everyday words, such as Note for Flare, in the app, in notifications and reminders, and in widgets and on the Lock Screen. Each can be turned off on its own in More → Privacy. What you’ve logged stays the same.
You can also change the Home Screen icon to Journal. The name under the icon stays Tidebook, because iOS doesn’t let apps change it.
Apple Health
Tidebook works without Apple Health. To change what it reads or writes, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Tidebook.
Deleting your data
More → Delete everything removes all of Tidebook’s data from your phone, and so does deleting the app. Files you’ve exported and your phone’s backups keep their copies until you delete them. Period days Tidebook added to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.
